Site Launch Success Rate
Ever since getting into web design, I’ve enjoyed watching the hit rates climb after launching a site or project or to analyse the conversion rates of a fresh landing page or email campaign. Studying analytics may sound like a real bore if it’s not your thing—but if it’s your own project or business in question, then I couldn’t think of anything more interesting!
Today I finally get to witness this happening on my own project. The site has only been online for just shy of twenty-four hours and already it’s tallying up a decent hit count. I’m yet to launch any campaigns or marketing plans, let alone optimise the site properly for search engines, so this figure comes as quite a surprise to me. The only plugs so far have been a status update on Facebook and an email notification to a couple of clients—I didn’t expect this to turn around any more than about 100 hits, so four and a half times that is quite a significant bonus (OK, I can take credit for about five of those from all of the machines I used for testing).
Google Analytics Snapshot
In the short time that we’ve been online, I’ve only found three small bugs—all of which have been basic css problems in the store but my todo list is still massive, as we all know these things are never really finished.
I look forward to posting more results in more detail over the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone who’s visited the site and provided feedback, it’s all been noted and greatly appreciated!
